No let up with the rain all day so i knew i was in for a drenching as i set off to Mossie Park Charter Lane home of Charnock Richard .

Charnock Richard ? Ye not the service station near the Park Hall night club we all used to short cut through but the football club .

Fulwood seemed content to defend early on and frustrate Charnock . Seemed like a good tactic and ventured forward as confidence grew .
Charnock were passing and moving swiftly but could'nt find a significant opening .
Fulwood made too many ill-timed tackles , the referee lost patience and brought out the card . Fulwoods number 8 seeing yellow , a little unfortunate , more the victim of challenges preceeding which went unpunished . CR continued to look dangerous and almost went ahead when a Fulwood defender connected with a CR cross and was fortunate to see his diving header, towards his own goal, come back off the post .

I decided to have a cuppa tea 60p steak pie £1,20 super prices .
The toilets were next door and immaculate . Chatted to staff and fans who were very friendly and answered questions . I sipped my tea and viewed the surroundings



Charnock started the second half taking the initiative as the home team and scored after a slick one - two on the edge of the penalty box . Another goal followed and Charnock were looking comfortable at 2-0 . Fulwood were in danger of' losing it' completely ; a skirmish near the dugouts resulted in a booking for Fulwoods number 14 ,after appearing to push an opponent into the perimeter fence . Charnock came close again and should have finished Fulwood off . To their credit Fulwood persevered and got a breakthrough with a neat finish into the corner with Charnock appealing for offside . The Charnock bench were constantly ordering their players to keep the ball and play out time as Fulwood looked increasingly dangerous . Charnocks number 10 , often a threat and victim of mis-timed tackles due to his burst of pace , lost his cool and saw yellow . Fulwood failed to capitalise , Charnock kept the ball on the wing and held on for a narrow win .
Charnock were pleased to hear the final whistle as they should have won this game quite comfortably but almost threw away a point .

Appeared to get most significant decisions correct and kept the players under control although indecisive at times . I give a high score when officials keep control of a game when there's several scuffles and affrays as there was in this game .
 I have also looked at several clips of footage which appear to justify several decisions made by the officials
Excellent match magazine and read  with many clubs not issuing a programme ,especially in view of the tough economic situation , its a credit to the club and the West Lancs League
