Stainton Park - home since 1970

Nickname - Boro'

Terrific ground with plenty of character and a warm welcome for all .

Stainton Park home of Radcliffe Borough (Greater Manchester) Parked up easily as the club has ample parking space . On entering the ground purchased several programmes from the lovely Margaret in the turnstile entrance . Well worth a read as it contains a run down of programme costs , sales and club running costs . Great idea putting in print the statistics of running a club and an excellent programme too . Seemed to be a decent crowd for a cold , rainy , windy day . The teams were on their way out , i'd timed it to perfection < As i circum-navigated the Ground i passed the Directors box and thought i spotted a Bernard manning lookalike must have been a relative, probably the President (Bernard Manning jnr . , I sat down on the front seat under the Radcliffe Borough Grandstand logo behind the right side of the goal . In the 5th minute Woodley were awarded a free kick and from the resulting centre , Chalmers rose high to loop a header into the far corner with the keeper in no-mans land . Woodley were looking comfortable as Boro' started to press more frequently . Not much between the sides in difficult conditions but just before half time , in the 41st minute , Woodley were awarded a spot kick which was tucked away sweetly by ex Chorley man Stepien . Rotten time to concede , right on half - time . Woodley leading 2-0 ,
time for a well earned drink , the lounge bar was nearby so i sampled some ' delights . ' Pint of Bitter £2.40 and in the corner of the ground you could purchase hot dogs tea and coffee .

The match resumed amid brighter weather, enticing more spectators away from the cover of the stands to the open terrace near the dugouts on the opposite side . Boro' were grafting but to no avail . Opportunities were limited to half chances and unlucky offside calls . In the 82nd minute Woodley scored a third when Maylett netted . Boro fans were itching for the final whistle , although a disappointing result , they seemed satisfied with the effort but lacked the cutting edge in the final third .
Final Score Radcliffe Borough 0-3 Woodley Sports

Always fancied watching a game at the Crown ground, Acrrington and wasn't disappointed . The day started with heavy rain but by the time i arrived init was a warm sunny day . Dropped the Mrs off near the market and made my way to the ground .Parked up opposite Livingstone Road and walked towards the away entrance with the Burton fans . As i approached the entrance i decided to go with the home supporters . The fans are superb , full of character, the staff were friendly and helpful . There's a cosy bar/lounge near the toilets as you pass a stall selling merchandise . Pint of bitter £2.40 . The teams came out in Champions league style with music and razzmatazz . Stanley: Murdoch, Winnard, Long, Hessey, McIntyre, Procter, Joyce, Fletcher, Craney (Lindfield 79), Coid (Barnett 76), Amond (Moult 86) Subs not used: Dunbavin, Murphy On the far side of the ground the stands disappeared into the landscape and newly errected houses . The Burton fans were congregated behind the goal in the Coppice stand with no covered protection .

Pesch went on to lose his job Coleman went to Rochdale
The game was even with Burton settling down adequately as the away side . Both teams made a couple of chances before Burton capitalised on sloppy Accrington play and scored though Richards making the away followers delighted . Half -time 0-1 In the 72nd minute The Reds found the equaliser when Winnard headed in following a free kick from the left hand side corner . Stanley had the momentum and on loan Burley forward Fletcher made it 2-1 to the home side . Burton 's fans appealed for a penalty during the final minutes when the ball appeared to strike a Stanley defender on the arm showeing their frustration with the officials at the end as they all made their exit in the same direction . Final Score Accrington stanley 2-1 Burton Albion Peel park bonus . only had 10 minutes so i tried to track down the old ground . I was told the pitch and ground belong to a school off Alice Street. Probably need someone local to show me more locations .

Leyland LFA Bolton v Chelsea reserves

Ground 3
Match 13 ( 2nd visit )

The night air is filled with an aurora of electronic ambience so often lacking in afternoon games .

Once again LFA have done a great job , the pitch and stadium is a credit considering its size and theres a decent turnout with plenty of reasonably priced food , drink and programmes (20p) Superb !!!!!Ok its ony 4 pages but its sold out according to one seller and its worth the money . Fans would rather a four page programme or even a team sheet than nothing .

Decided to take in the Bolton v Chelsea reserve game at The County ground Leyland .

Beautiful summers night , met one of my friends on the way to the ground so he decided to meet me later with his son .
Decided to try one of the hollands pies at the refreshments kiosk , only £1.50 , not bad .Admission £3 Programme 20p (SOLD OUT)

LFA HQ
Both teams started at a fast pace , Chelsea had an early chance but failed to capitalise on it . Bolton went close when their number 7 and 10 both hit the woodwork .Half way through the first half , my friend 's son noticed a famous person standing five yards from us . 'Sophie Webster' from Coronation Street . Her boyfriend plays for Chelsea .

The kids were loving it . they were giggling , trying to find the courage to go over . When they did , the floodgates opened and Brooke was signing autographs and posing for photos . Interest in the game evaporated into the thin night air . Bloody hell i forgot my pen .
I decided to ask a small child for a pen and managed to get an autograph before the final whistle .Brooke Vincent ' Sophie Webster ' Coronation Street .

The game was 0-0 at half time . Most of the action in the second half was next to us .
Brev decided to leave early  . 'Hey ,! You might miss a goal in the last minute,' i joked . Sure enough Chelsea scored with Brev already exiting the turnstile , he rushed back in but missed the goal .

Chelsea won 1-0 .
An exciting night to say the least .
