Beautiful day as i travelled through the Peak District to Buxton leaving the cold rain at home .Found Silverlands quickly and parked up near the ground .
Met a contingent of supporters from both clubs climbing Holker Street , a steep hill .
There's a smart lounge with a bar and a stall selling tea/coffee and pies .
The game started tentaively but developed into a pulsating affair .
Buxton opened the scoring through Lugsden in the 9th minute . The 'Dabbers' created a number of chances but failed to convert . They paid the price for two silly defensive errors . Firstly , Spencer-Weie-Daley capitalised in the 33rd minute and on the stroke of half-time Taylor netted from 6 yards with a blistering volley . H-T 3-0 . Nantwich hadn't done too much wrong but if you can't get basic defending correct , you're going to concede soft goals .
Nantwich started the second half on the attack and soon got an opportunity with a penalty but Lennon shot tamely to the keepers left . After 67 minutes Lennon made ammends making it 3-1 . On 82 minutes Bailey reduced the arrears to make it nail biting stuff at 3-2 .
Weir-Daley eased the tension for Buxton to make it 4-2 but from the kick off 'the Dabbers' pushed forward , Maguire scored with a thundering header . The officials allowed 5 minutes plus for injury time but Nantwich fell short of a deserved equaliser for their valliant effort in the second half . Fantastic game and the crowd , including a large following from Nantwich , were breathless .
I stopped for a meal at the railway pub in buxton , service and meals were top class , lovely .
